Have you ever been on hold for hours on end just to get someone on the other side of the line who can’t help you or doesn’t care? Everyone has a bad customer service story, but how do you succeed in customer success?

What is Customer Success and Why Should I Care?

To be successful in customer success, you must first understand the parameters of your role. Your job is to help the customer with your product or service. This means that the you need to try and have the customer walk away with their questions answered and problems solved. If you cannot solve the problem immediately, they must come out feeling like they were heard and that steps will be taken to help fix the problem.

Customer success is imperative to a company and you need to care about it. Customer success helps a company retain it’s current customers. A company not only needs to make sales, but it needs to make sure that those customers stay with the company. If a company cannot keep clients, then it is not successful. This can be done by making sure that the customer is happy; the customer needs to feel like they are seen and heard by the company they are working with. Customer success also give you insight on how you can make your product/service better. By listening and helping customers, you can ensure more customers in the future.

What is Required of Someone in Customer Success?

When working in Customer Success, communication is key. You need to be able to communicate to your customers and make them happy, this means answering emails fast and being as helpful as possible. You also need to know how to balance many different tasks throughout your schedule. Having a task management system and writing meetings and reminders down can do wonders with helping you balance a schedule. You need to know your product! If a customer asks you about the product or has question about pricing or refunds you need to be able to answer those questions. Being able to answer them quickly and efficiently will make them happy and give them a good impression of the business.

If you care about keeping your customers, making them happy, and want to make your product better, then customer success is key. Don’t be that one company that people rat on for terrible customer service. Succeed with Customer Success.
